Hi folks!! Yes; I know that it has been an awfully long time since I posted and I apologize. I was on vacation and then a lot of stuff came up when I got home. Even though I’m still dealing with most of that stuff, I thought I owed you some links to things that have peaked my interest over the past few months. So, here we go…
Who wants to take a dip in a ramen bath? How’s about some wine? Coffee? Green tea?! Well, apparently there are enough Japanese people who want to to warrant having an entire onsen theme park that offers attractions based on food related themes… The theme park is contained within the larger Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Hot Springs Amusement Park & Spa Resort. Perhaps I’ll have to visit if I ever get back to Japan.
A cool modern restaurant and teashop opened by a Green Tea Princess. It looks like this might be a really cool place to eat!!
I absolutely love stationary products!! This seems like a cool way to reuse paper, especially all those torn-out magazine pages or calendar art you have lying around the house. I wonder if they ever get stopped by USPS… I guess we’ll see!!
A place to buy (or learn how to make your own) goods by reusing and recycling common consumer fodder. ^_^
A very cool open source video player.
This is an interesting article from New Scientist about a solution containing plastic-coated iron oxide that changes color in response to magnetic fields. It’s possible that this liquid may eventually be able to be used to create cheap alternatives to large LCD displays as well as for various other applications. Check it out!!
…steampunk artist!!
So now for some more current stuff…
Some rare colored bugs have been found in Osaka, Japan. Who wants a pink katydid? Did I hear some Japanese schoolgirls speak up?!
If you’ve ever read A Wrinkle in Time as a young reader, you too might have wonder what exactly a tesseract is. Like so many of the subjects covered in this work, the concept of the tesseract belongs to a field of study typically well beyond the comprehension of most young readers. In this case, the subject is theoretical mathematics. This story has a video of a physics professor attempting to explain what exactly a tesseract and the fourth dimension are. Good luck…
All you big oil and coal tycoons and out there better watch your backs!! The oceans might start stealing your business as the next major energy source… The data, however, is currently inconclusive but I figure it more for simply a pretty light show.
Can anyone say “pimp my ride”? Apparently Korea-based airline company, Korean Air, can. Check out the interior pictures of this seriously ridiculous plane. Click here for some visuals of the outside of what is currently the world’s largest passenger aircraft. Just insane!!
Perhaps humans should take an example from these spiders. This is a story about an unprecedented cooperative web found in a Texas national park. The story includes a “bonus” video that discusses how much we don’t know about the way spider silk gets its incredible strength…
A story about a dreamy machine that dispenses soft serve ice cream portions based on the misery detected in the consumer’s voice.
Japanese Office Lady Olympics!!
Not really but close… This woman’s calculator calculating speed is just insane!! Again, only in Japan…
